Learn to Ski Package

Have you always wanted to learn to ski?  Our “Learn to Ski” package includes everything you need – rental equipment, lift tickets and enrollment in a 1.5 hour group skiing lesson for two people at the Camden Snow Bowl.  Our package also includes two nights lodging, a gourmet five course dinner for two one night and a sumptuous two course breakfast each morning.  Enjoy Maine’s winter weather and learn something new at the same time!  Package price is $362 – $522 based on based on room selection (double occupancy).

“The Camden Windjammer Festival is a community-led celebration of Camden’s maritime heritage and living traditions. From the great age of sail when four, five, and even six-masted schooners were launched into Camden Harbor, through the birth of the windjammer business here in the 1930s and continuing with the elegant yachts that visit or call Camden home every summer, sailing ships have always defined this gorgeous community where the mountains meet the sea.

Every year on Labor Day weekend thousands of visitors from as far away as Alaska and as near as Bay View Street in Camden gather along the wharfs and parks to explore the ships themselves, learn salty crafts and skills, and swap sea stories and songs in talent shows and concerts that appeal to landlubbers and swabbies alike. Now in its sixteenth year, the Camden Windjammer Festival has become a wildly popular event for tourists as well as locals.

This festival recognizes not just what makes Camden unique but also the important role maritime heritage plays in shaping the lives of all who live here. And, most of all, to celebrate it!”

The entertainment this year includes Changes in Latitudes, Emerson Drive and Uncle Kracker.   

The Big Parade down Rockland’s Main Street, which draws more than 25,000 fans, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011. The theme for our 2011 parade is “Lobster-Palooza.” Parade participants are encouraged to show their enthusiasm and excitement and celebrate the lobster during this lobster-extravaganza – Love it! Eat it! Celebrate it!

If you do serve it as a punch, a fun way to serve it would be to use the watermelon as the punch bowl.  Cut off the top only of the watermelon to scoop it out.  This was you have a bowl shape remaining. 

Watermelon and summer go hand and hand so you can’t go wrong with this delicious drink!

Watermelon Chiller (Punch)

One Watermelon (6lbs)

12 oz vodka

12oz lemon lime soda

¼ cup fresh lime juice

Scoop out the watermelon.  Puree, strain and put in a bowl.  Stir in vodka, soda and lime juice.  Garnish drinks with green apple slice or lime

Each guest then cooked their pizza on bricks till it was crispy, bubbly and ready to devour!  Some people came back and made a second and saved it for breakfast the next morning!
