Jun 1 at 1:00 pm -- From the Spring Garden Cooking Class at the Hartstone Inn
Join Chef Michael in his Camden Maine kitchen. Hopefully the snow will be gone and the gardens will be beginning to produce some spring bounty. Chef Micahael will take advantage of this local produce and has created a menu that reflects the season. Recipes include: Seared Sea Scallops with Spring Pea Cream and Smoked Salmon, Baby Spring Greens with a Strawberry Chive Dressing and Radishes, Grilled Salmon Niçoise with Fiddlehead Ferns and Spring Asparagus, and finish the meal off with a Spring Rhubarb Crème Brûlée with a Lemon Madeleine. Classes are informative, entertaining, and of course, filled with delicious food.

Jun 21 at 6:30 pm -- Midsummer at the Museum
Midsummer’s Eve community celebration, Friday, June 21, begins at 6:30 PM on the grounds of Montpelier in Thomaston with a Mustard Sausage & Gunpowder Punch barbecue featuring a midsummer pole and music & games. At 7:30 PM a live performance ($ TBD) will be presented in the Oval Room, as well as a free luminary workshop for kids.
At 9 PM there will be fiddles and dancing and revelry back out on the lawn. Admission is free except where otherwise noted, and all are invited to attend. Rain date is June 22.

Cut the Cake is Henry Knox’s birthday party – his 263rd, but who’s counting! This year The Knox Museum will put on a big spread in Cole House Clearing, behind Cole House, just adjacent to Montpelier, at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 20. Children will sit on hay bales, blow up balloons, enjoy magic tricks, and listen to costumed storytellers. Tea sandwiches and fruit punch will be served, as well as a giant birthday cake and ice cream. There will be a Lady Knox Hat Parade contest, a display of Henry’s favorite Brown Bess, and live country music. This event is free, family friendly, and all are invited to attend.

This annual event is coordinated by the American Lighthouse Foundation, Maine Office of Tourism, and United States Coast Guard.
Over 20 lighthouses throughout the state participate in this special event and will open for visitors from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for guided or self-guided tours of keeper’s houses and light towers.
