Try Penobscot Bay Brewery’s 9 Fine Brews

Penobscot Bay Brewery in Winterport, Maine, serves up 9 locally made brews ranging from a blonde ale to a stout. The brewery’s tasting room is the perfect spot to try all of the popular local brews, as well as a range of wines produced by the brewery’s sister company Winterport Winery. Winterport is just an hour’s drive from Camden, making it an easy day trip to try Penobscot Bay Brewery’s fine brews.

Locally made handcrafted beer

Penobscot Bay Brewery began in 2009 and specializes in small batch, handcrafted brews. Its signature ale is the Old Factory Whistle, a rich red brew. Penobscot’s latest offering is the Mountain Man Double IPA, an American Double India Pale Ale. Other brews include a rye IPA, a spiced lager, a blonde ale and a stout, just to name a few.

Try them all at a tasting room called Pairings that features both Penobscot Bay Brewery’s beverages (brewed onsite), as well as the locally made selections produced by Winterport Winery. It’s called Pairings because the owners not only offer beer and wine tastings (to adults 21 years of age and up), they pair the selections with a range of appetizers for a full tasting experience.

Locally made wines

Winterport Winery and Penobscot Bay Brewery are owned by Michael and Joan Anderson. The business was reportedly born in the family basement and has since grown to a 3,200-square-foot winery and a 1,100-square-foot tasting room. The winery produces 20 locally made fruit wines.

Beer, wine and ice cream, too!

In addition to beer and wine, the owners of Winterport Winery and Penobscot Bay Brewery have also developed Bay Brew Ice Cream. The brew-inspired ice cream flavors include Half Moon Stout and Black & Tan.
