Late January in Maine begs for comfort food…hearty, filling, and warm in the belly. We start off by making Scaccia, a street bread made in southern Sicily, that is layered with basil, tomato and grated hard cheese. Next we turn to a personal favorite of Prosciutto Baked Fresh Mozzarella with Garlic and Tomatoes, served with crisp crostini to sop up every bit of goodness. Fried Crisp Polenta with Mushrooms and Pecorino follows, and a citrusy Lemon-Hazelnut Tart, will have you looking forward to warmer weather.
